Sucker Punch

So, today I was watching Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch (for the 100th time) and I thought "Hey, I should post about this!" What mainly spurred that thought on was the fact that, a while ago, I won an amazing Sucker Punch hamper from Nu Metro that included a coffee table book. This book basically contains the entire lead-up to creating the Sucker Punch movie from the early logo designs to the detailed character drawings and descriptions. If you haven't seen the movie as of yet, go. Go right now and watch this. It is amazing and, in my opinion, highly underrated.

So, ladies and gentledudes, I hereby present to you a few pages from my cherished book:

An early sketch of Amber

Dr Vera Gorski played by Carla Gugino - One of my favourite actresses.

I adore this entire cast (except for Vanessa Hudgens... She's just awful.)

This is Emily Browning. I first saw her in Ghost Ship (my favourite horror movie as a kid). She's also appeared in one of my other favourite films, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I wouldn't classify her as one of my favourite actresses, but I dig her movie choices and she really was perfect for her role of Babydoll in Sucker Punch. She's ALSO a singer! She actually sang a lot of the songs for the SP soundtrack, including a beautiful cover of Where Is My Mind? by the Pixies featuring a South African artist named Yoav. So yeah, all in all, she's a pretty rad chick.

The left is what she's like in her mind. The right is her actual state.

I had to put this photo up because 1. I love Abby Cornish, and 2. I adore this particular leopard print outfit she's got on! Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out where to buy the ensemble yet, though :( So if any of you guys know a place, hook a sista up!

Okay, now... this guy. THIS guy. His name is Oscar Isaac and I think he is just wonderful. His performance in this film was spectacular and I really, really hope I get to see him in some other major movies soon. I reckon this dude is gonna go pretty darn far.

Babydoll's Sword design. Each symbol representing a part of her journey.

Babydoll's badass pistol - a souped up Colt M1911A1.

Just some awesome SP villains.

I love the fact that the book ends with a picture of a labotomy, given that its a pivotal point in the movie.

So, my advice to you is: WATCH THE DAMN MOVIE! You're either gonna love it or hate it. Even if this "isn't really your kind of movie (judging by the pictures)", give it a chance. The cinematography is beautiful.

If you're a creative, odds are you'll love it.

I do.
