Pretty Necklaces

Now, I'm not much of a jewellery gal, largely because the only finger I can fit rings onto is my wedding finger and when I wear rings on that finger, people just look at me strangely.

I don't usually like the jingle-jangle of bangles, so I wear those black plastic ones instead. I used to have an extra piercing on the top of my right ear, but my gay friend Mark told me it made me look 'homosexual'. Oh, the irony. Anyway, that silver stud was in there for a good three years or so before he convinced me to take it out. Other than that, I've only ever really worn earrings that have been mostly given to me on birthdays or *hand-me-downs from my sisters.
*hand-me-downs = i took them

HOWEVER, recently I have developed an intense fondness for necklaces. Because I have long and wavy hair, I like to let it loose a lot and because my hair is really thick, I found my earrings were constantly getting tangled up if they were anything more than studs. So, I decided I would swop to long necklaces for a while. They elongate my body a bit and add a lot more detail and attention to my chest area which, believe me, could definitely do with a bit more detail and attention.

These are three of my favourite necklaces that I bought. Strangely enough, they're all from one shop:
Sass Diva. They've gotta be doing something right!

The one on the left is my absolute favourite (I wear it with pretty much anything and everything) and I got it on a special where I got the middle necklace too for R100 in total. The last necklace can't be purchased there anymore, but it's also one of my best. It's been everywhere with me and looks quite worn now because it really was worn almost every day in my last year of school and my first year of varsity. This coin necklace is a standout piece on any outfit and friends are forever asking me where they could buy one. I feel puuuurty special wearing that there necklace.

Anyhoo, Sass Diva is by far my favourite place to hunt for jewellery because not only do I mostly always find what I'm looking for, but they also have some mad specials from time to time and that always leaves a pleasant little smile on my face.

I've been on the hunt for a long gold anchor necklace for ages now (kinda like the one pictured below), so if you know of anywhere that sells something like this, let me know!

Don't you just love long necklaces?

I do.

Beautiful Places

Today I was reminiscing. Last year, I went to Thailand. Phuket, to be more specific. The Andaman Seaview Hotel in Karon Beach, to be even more specific. I fell in love.

The people there are so ridiculously lovely and nice. It's as if they really, really love their job cleaning floors or serving you breakfast! And that's not to put them down at all. Seriously! I so admire them. I also love how they smile and say "Kapunka" (Thank You) to everyone who passes, even the ignorant and rude visitors. It truly is an amazing culture with incredible people in a breathtakingly beautiful place.

These are some of the photos I took whilst on my trip. A Taste of Thailand, if you will.
(10 Points if you recognise a photo of Phi Phi Island, where the movie The Beach was filmed!)

Beautiful, isn't it?
Now check out THIS amazing resort I found that I REALLY want to go to for my honeymoon someday! I guarantee you'll love it.

I do.

Cooking Newly Found Recipes

So, recently I saw this post on 9gag and I felt compelled to make it!

And so I did.

What I Needed:
1X pack of spaghetti (A good handful should be enough)
7X Viennas (I used 7 because that's all I had, so feel free to deviate.)
1X Pot Water
1X Knife
 ...That's literally all you need.

Anyhoo. This is how you make this rad looking dinner. (Accompanied by pictures, of course.)

STEP ONE

Cut viennas into 2 or 3cm lengths. Stick about 6 spaghetti sticks through said lenghts, like so:

STEP TWO

Bring pot of water to boiling point, and when it starts to bubble, you know it's ready for your sausage (...Giggedy).
Place them like so:

STEP THREE

Wait about 30 minutes (use your own judgement), add a few grinds of salt to the mix about 5 minutes before you wanna take it out. Drain, pour contents into bowl and enjoy!

On a personal note, I really loved it with some grated cheese and tomato sauce, but feel free to experiment however you'd like! I just thought this was a cool and interesting idea. Also, a lot easier to eat.
Don't you just love cooking new things?

I do.

Weddings and Things

So, for some reason, lately I've been pretty obsessed with checking out people's wedding photos, blogs, etc. (Most probably due to the fact that about four of my friends have already been married/are engaged to be married later this year.) I'm sure many of you are already familiar with the awesome (but slightly commercialised) wedding sites out there (eg Style Me Pretty, The Bride With A Blog, Prima Donna Bride, The Bride's Cafe) However, I've gotta say that the people I know have pretty awesome taste in finding the best wedding stuff around.

Wedding Blogs

One of my loveliest friends, Callie (pictured below), is getting married very soon and this is her wedding blog.

I adore everything about it. Especially the things she's chosen for her gift registry.

This is the lead singer of Fire Through The Window's wedding blog.

She's marrying the lead guitarist of her band (the guy on her right) which I find really romantic and lovely. She posts some really cool wedding stuff, as well as some personal stuff. I love it.

I kind of can't wait to get married now just so that I can start my very own wedding blog! That's a legit reason to want to get married, right?

Photographers

As for wedding photographers, I've seen some amazing stuff. (The photographer Callie hired, Andria Lindquist is AMAZING. Plus she has Strawberry Swing playing on her site, which makes me love her even more. You can check that site out here.

My friend, Tim, also recently got married and his Facebook page is how I found out about Storybook Photography. Definitely worth a visit.

Yummy Food

Time to talk CAKE. There are so many amazing bakeries out there, but if I had to get married right now, in Cape Town, my choice would be Charly's Bakery. No doubt. A friend of mine gave me cupcakes from there for my 20th birthday and I fell in love.

Their store is so beautiful too.

One of my personal favourite cakes(largely because it reminds me of Diane Keaton's wedding cake in Because I Said So) made by the "Mucking Afazing" team:

Dresses

Other than that, I don't have much else to post on wedding-related things right now. Oh! But I can show you one of my favourite wedding dresses ever! It's the Vera Wang dress worn by Kate Hudson in Bride Wars.

Don't you just love it?

I do.
